Finnair is the national carrier and the largest airline in Finland, based in Vantaa at Helsinki Airport, which is also its main hub. It dominates both domestic and international air travel in Finland and is partly government-owned, with the Finnish government holding 55.9% of shares (as of 2014).
The airline has partnerships with Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Deutsche Bahn, JD.com (China), Japan Airlines, and Marimekko, so has a big global network.
Finnair Destinations
Finnair flies from its Helsinki hub to 130+ destinations in over 40 countries in Asia, Europe, and North America. Unlike many European airlines, Finnair has focused its long-haul routes mainly on Asia, with around 20 destinations.
It also flies to eight destinations in North America, five in the US and others in Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. Previously, Finnair had seasonal flights to parts of Africa and South America for leisure travelers.
Frequent Flyer Program – Finnair Plus
The Finnair Plus program rewards passengers with points based on flight type and travel class. Membership tiers are Basic, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Platinum Lumo and Junior for minors. Higher tiers have extra benefits like premium check-in, priority boarding, and lounge access.
Cabin Classes
Business Class: On long-haul Airbus fleet with fully flat beds (78″) and direct aisle access. The seats are designed for multiple sitting and sleeping positions, with privacy and comfort.
Premium Economy: Introduced in 2022 on Airbus A330 and A350, with HAECO Vector Premium seats for extra comfort and space.
Economy Comfort: Upgraded economy on long-haul flights with 34–36″ pitch (more legroom), improved headrests, noise-canceling headphones, and an amenity kit.
Meals & Beverages
- On European flights: Tea, coffee, milk, water, and blueberry juice are free. Other drinks and meals are available for purchase.
- On long-haul business class: hot meals, free alcohol, and a dedicated snack bar on most Airbus aircraft.
- Economy Class long-haul: Choice of meals and free non-alcoholic drinks.
