Shanghai Airlines, one of China’s major carriers, was established in 1985 and is headquartered at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. Its primary hub is Shanghai Pudong International Airport, and the airline operates flights to 140 destinations worldwide.

Shanghai Airlines operates from two main hubs: Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. Its frequent flyer program is Eastern Miles, which allows passengers to earn and redeem points on flights.

Baggage Policy

Cabin Baggage:
Each passenger is allowed one piece of cabin baggage. The maximum weight for carry-on luggage is 5 kg, and the dimensions must not exceed 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. Passengers must adhere to both the weight and size limits.

Checked Baggage:

  • Economy Class: Passengers may check in up to two pieces of luggage, with each bag weighing no more than 23 kg.

  • Business & First Class: Passengers may check in up to two pieces, with each bag not exceeding 32 kg.

  • Size Limit: The total dimensions of a single checked bag (length + width + height) must not exceed 158 cm.
    Exceeding the weight or size limits may incur additional charges.

Check-In Options

Online Check-In:
Shanghai Airlines offers web check-in, allowing passengers to check in from home using a computer or laptop. A booking reference ID is required to complete check-in and print the boarding pass. Online check-in opens 24 hours before departure and closes one hour prior to the flight.

Airport Check-In:
Passengers may also check in at dedicated airport counters. Separate counters are available for Economy Class and Business Class passengers. For domestic flights, check-in begins two hours before departure and closes 30 minutes prior. For international flights, check-in closes one hour before the scheduled departure time.
